Kent Awards 2014

On 17 April, at the Kent Annual Awards presentation, Bromley Tennis Centre won the award for best club in the 5+ courts category in 2013. The Award was presented to Sandi Procter, General Manager, by Austin Smith, President of Kent Tennis. A short citation was read out as follows: ‘Over the past 4 years and particularly in 2013 the entre has experienced considerable growth. It is the only tennis centre in the country to be accredited for all possible LTA accreditations – Clubmark, High Performance, Community Beacon, Coach Education and Disability Hub. During 2013 the numbers on coaching increased by 20%. Alongside coaching the centre organises and hosts numerous competitions including the prestigious County Championships which in itself is the biggest in the country, plus the Kent Schools Championships. BTC had 4 tams which reached the National Finals of the Aegon Team Tennis Premier League, with the 12&U team coming out as National Champions. The centre increased its number of nationally recognised players 5 to 14. With all this performance activity you would be forgiven for thinking this centre only caters for top players. But far from it, they have links with 8 primary schools, plenty of classes for beginners, a programme of activity for players in wheelchairs and who have learning disabilities, and lots of pay and play for the local community. Deserving winners of the 2013 Club of the Year Award’
